Hello, and welcome to my Religion Page.

I don't intend this page to be a "forced Christianity" page. I just want to share my beliefs with others. That way, they can know the same love that I know.

I am sure that someone out there is thinking that what I just typed is "hokey" but to me it is very true. My typical belief is that if you want someone to understand something, give them an example that they can relate to. In this case, I am going to avoid the common verses, I will leave that to another page, but I do want to share with you the story of how I became a Christian.

I remember lying in my bed at age 4 or 5 crying. The thunder was very loud and they lightening seemed like it was coming through the window. I  must have been making a lot of noise, because my mother came into the room to talk to me. She asked me what was wrong and I told her that I was afraid of the noise. She asked me if I remembered the Bible verse I had learned, "Do you think you can tell me what John 3:16 says?" I answered, "God loved the world, so he gave his only son, that we won’t die, but can live forever." She made some comment about learning the correct words and asked me if I knew what that meant. My honest answer was that they hung Jesus from a tree without leaves. I told her it looked like two pieces of wood, not a tree. She explained that the two pieces of wood were usually called a cross and sometimes a tree. Then she asked me if I knew why he was hung on the cross. I repeated what I have heard, "…to save us from our sins… what are sins?" She told me that sinning included lying to people, taking toys from my sisters, not doing what she and my dad told me to do, and also throwing temper tantrums. Then she explained that sinning makes God sad and unless we are forgiven we wouldn’t be with him in heaven. She asked me if I wanted to go to heaven and I told her I did. She told me that all I had to do was pray for God to forgive my sins and to believe that Jesus died to save me. As I laid there, I prayed for forgiveness and placed my faith in Christ, with some help from my mother of course. After we prayed, my mother told me that as one of God’s children I would never have to be afraid again. She told me that God takes care of his children and that He would protect them from harm.

Shortly after, she bid me goodnight and went to her room. I looked at the lightening and heard the thunder, but it did not bother me. I fell asleep not realizing the importance of the choice I had just made. I did not know that I would be criticized, ridiculed and rejected, nor did I know that I had a friend who would be with me through thick and thin. I did know that the storm was not as scary as it had seemed a short thirty minutes earlier.

My life had been changed forever, by the love of God. To this day, whenever I hear a thunderstorm, or see lightning, I remember that night. I remember my promise to God and I remember His promise to me.

In case you couldn't guess from the language, this text was taken from a book in progress, please to do not steal my work!
