Welcome to My Wedding!!
Finally, special thanks
to the following people...
The 3 Barbs...
Barb Lassahn (organist),
Barb Au (singer, sister, MC), and Barb Houser (videographer)
I don't know what the
day would have been like without the three of them. The musical Barbs added
some "special touches" to the wedding to make it "mine" and although the
video did not turn out very well, Barb tried her best, that is all that
matters.
Ruth Naomi Floyd
Once again, Ruth is
a professional Christian Artist with a beautiful voice.
As a wedding gift to
us, she gave a "mini concert" at our reception.
It was beautiful Ruth,
Thank you.
Valerie Cooper
Valerie, is my other
sister... my baby sister.
Since her son, David,
was turning 2 on the day of the wedding, she did not want to have a "major"
part in the ceremony.
In her words, "I prefer
to sit back and enjoy myself"
As a result, we asked
her to get people to sign the guest book after the wedding.
She was happy to help.
Oh, an interesting tidbit
for you... the dress she is wearing in the above picture is the same dress
that she was married in. I thought it was interesting that she wore her
wedding dress to my wedding!
The Gibsons
The Gibsons are some
of the most beautiful people I have ever met.
Michelle and I became
friends instantly, and Victor always has a hug for a friend.
Victor Jr. (the ring
bearer), is a well behaved boy and sets a good example for his brothers
Isaiah (unfortunately behind his father in this picture) and Elisha (not born
at the time of this picture). Our
very special thanks to this very special family. Especially when you consider
that they had to rent 2 tuxedos, and shoes, and a motel room for the night
before the wedding, as well as travel 2 hours each way with 2 children
in the car.
Thanks Michelle and
Victor!
Last but not least...
my parents
Allen and Lois Au
My parents paid for
the reception, the decorations, the sound system (which didn't work), the
cake, and all the dresses.
My dad removed the necessary
pews from the church to make room for our guests in wheelchairs as well
as set up the equipment at the reception hall.
My mom was the busiest
of them all...
She made my wedding
gown and the 3 bridesmaids dresses.
(Vanessa's mother made
the flower girl's dress)
Although this sounds
like a difficult task, it was harder than you would think!
Becky and Jenn are both
students and were difficult to reach for fittings.
Michelle was pregnant
so it was necessary for my mom to wait until the last minute to fit her
for a dress, plus she had to custom design her dress to accommodate her
growing belly. Michelle's dress ended up being a combination of 2 patterns
that had to be altered to work together.
Finally, my dress was
painful (according to my mother).
The top was from one
pattern, the skirt and train from another pattern, and the sleeves, well,
yet a third pattern. To make things more difficult, I was on a medication
that made me gain weight rapidly (not cool, especially before your wedding)
so like Michelle, she had to wait until the last minute to do things. I
believe she finished my gown 2 days before the wedding. I know it took
her several hours to iron the dress the day before the wedding.
Thanks Mom!
